This is a permanent, full-time position, providing an opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to important data analytics initiatives and support boards and bureaus across the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Under the direction of the Chief Policy and Analytics Officer of the DCA Executive Office, this position works with boards and bureaus to conduct research, analyze data, and provide insights that support decision-making. The role focuses on enhancing data quality, accessibility, and reporting using analytical tools and techniques.
Duties include:
· Leading teams in the collection, validation, and analysis of complex datasets.
· Evaluating and enhancing data quality, accessibility, and reporting standards to provide meaningful insights to all levels of management.
· Performing advanced statistical analyses, forecasting, and workload projections.
· Facilitating meetings with boards and bureaus to present findings and build consensus on data-driven strategies.

The incumbent works 40 hours per week in an office setting with artificial light and temperature control. Daily access to and use of a personal computer and telephone is essential. Sitting and standing requirements are consistent with office work.
Criminal Offender Record Information: Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program materials at all times.
Conflict of Interest: This position is subject to Title 16, section 3830 of the California Code of Regulations, the Department of Consumer Affairs' Conflict of Interest Regulations. The incumbent is required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1, and within 30 days of leaving office.

Candidates with experience in analytics, reporting, and communicating insights to diverse stakeholders are especially well-suited for this role.

·Proficiency in preparing professional documentation to present new concepts or changes to business process.
·Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
·Experience preparing and delivering data reports, dashboards, or presentations to diverse audiences, including leadership or boards.
·Familiarity with regulatory, consumer protection, or public sector environments.
·Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
·Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
·Demonstrated initiative in learning new analytical methods, tools, or approaches.

Salary Information
All civil service positions have salary ranges with minimum and maximum pay rates. Typically, employees who are new to civil service are appointed at the minimum rate of the salary range for the position. Special provisions for appointments above the minimum exist to meet special recruitment needs and to accommodate employees who transfer into a position from another civil service position and are already receiving salaries above the minimum.
